July 20, 2020
The effects of a worldwide pandemic have been quite crazy for our couples. Carlie & George had to reschedule their wedding multiple times – moving it from it’s original date in May, to August, and then to the following year. After a long engagement, they decided to elope in July with their closest family and friends in Amelia Island, Florida which is where they always took family vacations.
Joe and I travelled from North Georgia about 6 hours to Amelia Island. It was our fist time there and we fell in love with how quiet and beautiful it was. When we arrived at the beach house, we immediately went to see Carlie where she was getting ready with her sisters. She was full of smiles because the day she had been waiting so long for was finally here. George was equally excited when he arrived.
The ceremony started right before sunset and was full of the most dreamy light. Carlie’s father was so sweet as he just cried joyful tears as he walked his daughter down the aisle. The ceremony was full of inside jokes about Carlie’s love for their dog which had everyone laughing. It was also full of heartfelt moments where their siblings read scriptures and George and Carlie shared their vows. We always tear up behind the camera and their wedding was no different.
After the ceremony, we had time for gorgeous couples portraits. We couldn’t get enough of the beachfront wedding feel! After portraits we headed back to the house for the reception. The first dances were so beautiful. The amount of love these families share was so evident. Carlie’s mother prepared a delicious taco bar for the meal and they cut a cookies and cream cake. It was as delicious as it sounds! 🙂
All in all, it is a day we will never forget. We were welcomed in and loved as if we were part of the family and it was such an honor to capture both photography and videography for them. Carlie & George – we love you both and wish you an eternity of joy and happiness as you walk through life together.
