We don’t even know where to begin on how much we loved this wedding. This was a dreamy Colorado wedding and I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since we photographed and videoed Peter & Kira’s big day.
If I had to describe this day in one word, it would be “intentional”. These are two of the most intentional people that I have ever met. They love their friends and family with their whole hearts and the love for each other, well, that is unmatched. Every moment of their day was curated to make each person feel special and loved.
We met Kira at Kendall & Christian’s wedding in October of 2020. Kira and Kendall were college roommates and Kira was a “friend of honor” which was a really cool way Kendall honored all of her closest friends since her sisters were her bridesmaids. This friend group is super fun and when Kira reached out, we knew we wanted to be a part of her day! Major bonus points that we Georgia folk got to travel all the way to Colorado for their wedding. Fun fact – Peter asked Kira’s dad for her hand at Kendall’s wedding!
When we got to Colorado, we enjoyed driving around and making sure we knew where everything was. It was SO windy that day! Thankfully, the wind calmed down for the wedding day and for that we were really grateful! Kira and Peter chose The St. Vrain for their venue. It’s super cool with a lot of exposed brick. Though she’s a Colorado native, they both live in Chicago and love the feel of the city so this venue really lent to that. I loved the custom artwork that was hanging throughout the bridal suite and groom’s suite.
Their wedding day was full of so much JOY as they spent time with their bridal party and families. The girls were all about their bride and the guys were having a great time with their groom! Though they all came from different parts of their lives, they united with one purpose which was to love on their people! As we moved to the first looks, there were tears at every single one. Our favorite was of course the first look between Peter and Kira. He was so emotional and happy to see his bride and she felt the same. We may or may not have been crying with them. The St. Vrain has a really beautiful white room that works perfectly for the first look and we loved grabbing some portraits on the green couch! Because they did a first look, we were able to take pretty much all pictures before the ceremony. This allowed us the time to head to the mountain views after the ceremony and they could attend cocktail hour!
When it was time for the ceremony to begin, we noticed Peter having a one on one moment with his father. We love getting to freeze this seemingly small moments that no doubt have a large impact. We don’t know what Peter’s father said in that moment, but I’m sure it’s a moment that neither will forget. The ceremony continued with the theme of the day – intentionality. The officiant was a family friend and they had readings from Peter’s sisters so that they could be involved in the big day. The couple celebrated with a kiss and then shared a special moment with their parents. Kira’s father had a special bottle of wine that he saved specifically to share with her on her wedding day. Yet again, another super intentional moment shared. GAH, we just love that. After they shared the wine, we headed to the mountain back drop for some incredible portraits.
Once we got back, the reception started. They had tacos and guac for dinner which is one of their favorite meals. They also had ramen as a late night snack for their guests and cookie bar – all of which is a dream wedding for us! Tacos are our love language…and cookies…and ramen. 😉
After the most perfect dances and toasts, Peter and Kira headed to the dance floor and didn’t leave until the end of the night. It was absolutely incredible to watch them having so much fun with their friends and family. The best part of the whole night – and I still get emotional when I think about it – was the very end of the night. All of the wedding guests formed a giant circle around the couple as they danced to Piano Man by Elton John. Kira and Peter motioned for their families to join them and then Peter and Kira went around the circle and made sure to touch every guest and say thank you for coming. It ended with Peter throwing Kira up into a lift (hello Dirty Dancing!) and a sparkler send off. We didn’t want the night to end.
To Peter and Kira – it was the highest honor for us to have been a part of your day. You are both a treasure and beautiful human beings. Here’s to the next 100 years together!
